About Atul

Atul Limited manufactures chemicals in India and sells them in 88 countries, directly and through subsidiary companies in the USA, the UK, the UAE, China and Brazil. Its customers include manufacturers in many sectors, among them makers of cosmetics, dyestuffs and pharmaceuticals. It also sells crop protection and polymer products to retail buyers under its own brands. Its crop protection retail range covers herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and biostimulants and adjuvants. Three of its products, Mylonis, Sindica and Tikadis, are patented. Its equity shares are listed on the BSE and NSE.

The business is reported in two segments, Life Science Chemicals and Performance and Other Chemicals, which contain nine sub-segments. These include Aromatics, Colors, Floras and Pharmaceuticals, plus crop protection and polymers businesses that each have a retail arm. The Colors business alone covers about 525 products, among them dyestuffs, pigments, dye intermediates and textile chemicals.

Atul was founded in 1947 by Kasturbhai Lalbhai, and its manufacturing began in 1952. Atul Bioscience and Atul Products are wholly owned subsidiaries, and the Atul group also includes joint ventures in which it holds half. Rudolf Atul Chemicals, established in 2011, supplies textile chemicals in the Indian market. Anaven LLP is another joint venture of the same kind. Both of these are held on an equal 50% basis with partners. In February 2026 the company formed Atul-Buckman Specialities as a joint venture with Buckman USA.
