About One 97 Communications
One 97 Communications Limited runs Paytm, a payments and financial services business in India. It was incorporated in 2000. Its core business is payments. For consumers, it enables UPI transfers, bill payments and recharges. For merchants, it offers QR codes, Soundbox devices that give a spoken confirmation of each payment, All-in-One point-of-sale terminals and an online payment gateway.
The business has three parts: payment services, distribution of financial services, and marketing services. Financial services distribution covers loans, insurance and share broking. Loans are underwritten and booked by lending partners on their own balance sheets. Insurance is distributed through Paytm Insurance Broking Private Limited, and equity broking and mutual funds are offered through Paytm Money Limited. Marketing services include advertising, travel ticketing, credit card distribution, and deals and gift vouchers.
Merchant payments are run mainly through Paytm Payments Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary. The offline merchant payments business was transferred to it in November 2025. The company also has subsidiaries in the UAE, Singapore and Indonesia, which distribute its merchant payments and financial services technology in those markets. Its Singapore subsidiary sold its stake in PayPay on 13 December 2024. The corporate office is in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and the registered office is in New Delhi.
