Where the return came from

Yearly rates to Mar 2026, per-share figures restated for splits and bonuses.

OverReturn a yearEarnings growthChange in P/EDividend yield

3 years+39.9%+20.8%+15.6%0.3%
5 years+71.4%+46.5%+16.7%0.5%
Return is price growth plus the average dividend yield. Change in P/E is (1 + price growth) / (1 + earnings growth) - 1, so the parts compound rather than add. Earnings growth over 1 and 3 years is on profit divided by shares in issue at both ends: the earnings per share stated for one end does not match that year's profit and share count.

About Gravita India

Gravita India Limited recycles scrap and makes metal and other products from it. It was incorporated in 1992. The company has more than 400 customers in 37 countries, including over 250 domestic customers across 22 states of India.

It runs seven business verticals: lead recycling, aluminium recycling, plastic recycling, rubber recycling, copper manufacturing, lithium-ion battery recycling and turnkey solutions. Lead recycling turns spent lead-acid batteries into refined lead and alloys. Aluminium recycling makes die-casting and foundry alloys. Plastic recycling converts battery casings and post-consumer plastic scrap into granules, and rubber recycling makes crumb rubber and rubber granulates. The copper business makes copper sheets, foils and strips, and brass cups, at Sarigam in Gujarat. The turnkey division designs, fabricates, installs and commissions recycling plants for clients, and has executed more than 70 projects.

The company has fourteen manufacturing plants across India, Africa, Asia and Europe. Its locations in India are Jaipur, Jaipur SEZ, Kathua, Chittoor, Mundra and Sarigam. Outside India, it operates in Sri Lanka, Ghana, Senegal, Mozambique, Tanzania, Togo and Romania. It employs over 3,500 people.

The company began as a lead recycling business in Jaipur, founded by Dr. Mahavir Prasad Agarwal and Rajat Agrawal. It is listed on the NSE and BSE. In the year to March 2026 it commissioned lithium-ion battery recycling at Mundra, and in March 2026 it acquired a 98.95% stake in Rashtriya Metal Industries Limited, founded in 1946, which gave it the copper business. Rajat Agrawal is its Chairman and Managing Director.
