About AU Small Finance Bank
AU Small Finance Bank is a bank that serves individuals, small businesses and enterprises across India. It takes deposits and gives loans, and it also offers cards, payments, insurance and investment products. Over 1.2 crore customers bank with it.
The bank organises its business into three segments. Retail Banking covers savings accounts, fixed deposits, home loans, gold loans, car and commercial vehicle loans, personal loans, credit cards and payments. Banking Solutions for Business covers current accounts, working capital and term loans, trade finance, and payment and collection services. Customers use these services through branches and the AU 0101 app. Wheels, its vehicle loan business, is the oldest franchise of the bank. Its microfinance lending sits under inclusive banking.
The bank's network has 2,790 touchpoints across the country, and it has more than 1,000 loan origination branches for each of its core businesses, including Wheels, mortgages and gold loans. Many of the added branches are in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
It started in 1996 in Jaipur as a young non-banking finance company, funding first-time commercial vehicle buyers. It later became a small finance bank. It merged with Fincare Small Finance Bank, and the merger was completed after the two core banking systems were unified. In August 2025 the Reserve Bank of India gave the bank in-principle approval to transition into a universal bank.
