About Kirloskar Oil Engines
Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited makes power generators, industrial engines and water management systems. It is a member of the Kirloskar Group, whose businesses include internal combustion engines and power backup. The company's head office is in Pune.
Its engines range from 2.5 hp to 1,650 hp, and its gensets, which are engine-driven electricity generators, range from 3 kVA to 12,000 kVA. Here hp means horsepower, and kVA is a unit of generator output.
The company describes its business under these segments: Powergen, industrial engines, industrial solutions, distribution and aftermarket services. Powergen covers diesel and gas gensets, and its range includes the Optiprime and Sentinel gensets. The industrial segment offers engines from 20 hp to 1,100 hp. Distribution and aftermarket covers annual maintenance contracts and genuine spares.
Pumps, both engine-driven and electric, form the fluid dynamics business. That business was a part of the company until it was transferred, with effect from 11 October 2025, to its wholly owned subsidiary KOEL Fluid Dynamics Private Limited. It now sits outside the company itself.
The company's factories are at Pune, Kagal, Nashik and Bhare. A service network of around 500 touchpoints supports customers across India. Abroad, it has subsidiaries in Houston in Texas, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and Wichita in Kansas, the last of which trades as Wildcat Powergen.
The Kirloskar Group's journey began in 1888, when its founder established a bicycle repair shop.
