About Cummins India
Cummins India Limited makes internal combustion engines, generator sets, and engine parts and accessories. It also sells parts and services for generator sets. Its customers include end users, equipment makers, and channel partners such as dealers, distributors and retailers. Its engines and power equipment go into construction, compressors, mining, marine, railway, oil and gas, pumps, defence and power generation.
Its work spans power generation, aftermarket and export businesses. The company has a Power Systems Business Unit, a Distribution Business Unit and an Engine Business. It is headquartered in Pune. Manufacturing includes the Kothrud Engine Plant, and the company runs a remanufacturing facility in Phaltan, Maharashtra. It serves 35 states and union territories in India, and markets in Bhutan and Nepal. It also exports to countries across the globe, with America, Europe, Mexico, Africa, the Middle East and China among the top destinations. It has over 480 customer touchpoints.
The company was founded in 1962 and is the oldest Cummins entity in India. It has a 50:50 joint venture, Valvoline Cummins Private Limited, with Valvoline International Inc., USA. It also owns 48.74% of Cummins Generator Technologies India Private Limited, which designs, makes, markets and services alternators and related spare parts. It sold its wholly owned subsidiary, Cummins Sales & Service Private Limited, which ceased to be a subsidiary on 1 April 2025.
