About Kalyan Jewellers India
Kalyan Jewellers India Limited sells gold, diamond, precious stone and everyday jewellery through showrooms in India and abroad. Kalyan Jewellers was founded in 1993 by T.S. Kalyanaraman, who opened its first jewellery showroom in Thrissur, Kerala. He is now the company's Managing Director. The company was incorporated in 2009, and its corporate office is in Thrissur.
The company runs three brands. Kalyan is the flagship brand for traditional jewellery, Candere offers contemporary everyday wear, and Akshaya Thanga Maligai is a regional brand offering traditional Tamil jewellery. Most of its showrooms in India follow the Franchisee-Owned, Company-Operated (FOCO) model, under which a franchisee owns the showroom and the company operates it. A separate network called My Kalyan runs neighbourhood centres that extend the brand into semi-urban and rural households.
It has 342 Kalyan showrooms in India, 124 Candere showrooms, and 41 Kalyan International showrooms: 38 in the Middle East, 2 in the US and 1 in the UK.
The company's milestones begin in 1908 with Kerala's first textile mill, and in 1913 with its first textile retail showroom in Thrissur. Its first showroom outside Kerala opened in Coimbatore in 2004, and it reached Ahmedabad in 2012 and Delhi in 2014. Warburg Pincus made an equity investment in 2014. In 2017 the company acquired a stake in Enovate Lifestyles (Candere.com). It listed on NSE and BSE in 2021 and opened its first FOCO showroom in Aurangabad in 2022. It launched its first showroom in the UK in 2026.
