About Bajaj Auto
Bajaj Auto, with its registered office in Pune, makes motorcycles, scooters and commercial vehicles for customers in India and abroad, and sells spare parts. Its motorcycle brands include Pulsar, Platina, CT, Dominar and Avenger, and it also sells KTM, Husqvarna and Triumph motorcycles. Chetak is its electric scooter. Its commercial vehicles are passenger carriers, goods carriers and a quadricycle, including electric three-wheelers sold as WEGO and an e-rickshaw called Riki.
The company reports three segments: automotive, financing, and investment and others. Bajaj Auto Credit, a wholly owned financing subsidiary, supports retail sales of its two-wheelers and three-wheelers. Bajaj Auto Technology, also wholly owned, designs vehicles and develops electric-vehicle components.
It manufactures in Akurdi and Chakan in Pune, in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and at Pantnagar in Uttarakhand, with installed capacity of 7.2 million units a year. Its Brazilian subsidiary has a plant at Manaus, the company's first outside India. Its vehicles are sold in more than 100 countries, with export markets across Latin America, Africa and Asia. As of March 2026 it had 8,073 employees, excluding its technology subsidiary.
The business traces its origins to a company incorporated in 1945, and its automobile business was carved out in a demerger in 2008. It has worked with KTM of Austria since a 2007 alliance for joint development, marketing and distribution of motorcycles. In November 2025, after backing KTM's restructuring, it raised its stake in the Austrian holding company above KTM from 49.9% to 100%. Bajaj Auto is the flagship company of the Bajaj Group, founded in 1926 by Jamnalal Bajaj, which also has businesses in financial services, electricals and insurance.
