Return is price growth plus the average dividend yield. Change in P/E is (1 + price growth) / (1 + earnings growth) - 1, so the parts compound rather than add. Earnings growth over 1, 3 and 5 years is on profit divided by shares in issue at both ends: the earnings per share stated for one end does not match that year's profit and share count.

About Asahi India Glass

Asahi India Glass Limited, known as AIS, is an integrated glass and window solutions company in India. It supplies glass to automobile manufacturers and to architects, developers, fabricators and consumers.

The business is organised into three strategic business units: auto glass, architectural glass and consumer glass. The auto glass unit makes laminated windshields, tempered side and rear glass, sunroof solutions and sub-assemblies at five facilities: Bawal in Haryana, Roorkee in Uttarakhand, Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Taloja in Maharashtra and Patan in Gujarat. The architectural glass unit makes float glass, the flat sheet glass used for windows, facades and mirrors, at Roorkee, Taloja and Soniyana in Rajasthan, with a float glass capacity of 2,150 tonnes per day. It also offers door and window solutions in aluminium and uPVC systems. The consumer glass unit sells directly to end users. In the year to March 2026, several of its downstream businesses were merged to form AIS Consumer Glass Solutions Limited. A separate service business repairs and replaces car glass in 79 cities through 151 service centres.

AIS commenced commercial operations in 1987 as a joint venture between the Labroo family, Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. (now AGC Inc., Japan), and Maruti Udyog Limited (now Maruti Suzuki India Limited). It has grown from a single-plant, single-product, single-customer business into a company that covers raw material processing, manufacturing, distribution and installation.
