Valuation

Today, against the company's own history. Not shown, P/E: a results filing in the last twelve months restated the quarters before it inside its year to date, so the four quarters as the company reported them do not add to a twelve-month profit; the ratio returns once the trailing year no longer holds a quarter from before the restatement. Its history crosses a change of basis in the accounts in the year to Mar 2022: days before it are of the company before the change.PE ratio and valuation history

Return is price growth plus the average dividend yield. Change in P/E is (1 + price growth) / (1 + earnings growth) - 1, so the parts compound rather than add. Earnings growth over 1, 3 and 5 years is on profit divided by shares in issue at both ends: the earnings per share stated for one end does not match that year's profit and share count. Earnings growth over 3 years includes one-off items (exceptional items and the result of businesses sold or closed) of more than a tenth of the profit of the year to Mar 2023.

It describes itself as an integrated transport utility that uses a portfolio of marine, ports and logistics assets to deliver transport solutions. Its ports handle bulk, container and multipurpose cargo, and its freight services are used by exporters, importers, manufacturers and project developers.

The business has three parts: ports, logistics and marine services. In India, the ports lie on the west, south and east coasts and include Mundra, Dahej, Hazira, Krishnapatnam, Gangavaram and Dhamra. Mundra also has a port-based special economic zone. Abroad, the company operates ports in Haifa in Israel, Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and Colombo in Sri Lanka, and the North Queensland Export Terminal in Australia.

The logistics business runs 12 multi-modal logistics parks near industrial clusters, 132 rakes for rail freight, 3.1 million sq ft of warehousing space and a trucking platform. The marine business works through three entities, Ocean Sparkle, TAHID and Astro Offshore, and offers towage, pilotage and offshore support for oil and gas assets. The company also provides dredging and reclamation for port and harbour construction.

The company was incorporated in 1998 and has its registered office in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It built its marine services business through acquisitions. In the year to March 2026 it acquired the North Queensland Export Terminal, located within Abbot Point Port in Queensland. It belongs to the Adani group, which Gautam Adani founded in 1988. The Adani family is its promoter and holds a majority of its shares. A promoter is the person or group that set up a company or controls it.
