Where the return came from

Yearly rates to Mar 2026, per-share figures restated for splits and bonuses.

OverReturn a yearEarnings growthChange in P/EDividend yield

3 years+6.5%+4.1%−1.3%3.7%
5 years+6.3%+5.9%−3.6%4.3%
Return is price growth plus the average dividend yield. Change in P/E is (1 + price growth) / (1 + earnings growth) - 1, so the parts compound rather than add. Earnings growth over 3 years is on profit divided by shares in issue at both ends: the earnings per share stated for one end does not match that year's profit and share count.

About Petronet LNG

Petronet LNG Limited builds and runs terminals that receive liquefied natural gas (LNG) from ships and turn it back into gas, a step called regasification. It set up India's first LNG receiving and regasification terminal at Dahej in Gujarat, and has another terminal at Kochi in Kerala. The Dahej terminal has a nameplate capacity of 22.5 million tonnes a year and the Kochi terminal 5 million tonnes a year, 27.5 million tonnes in all.

The company buys LNG under long-term contracts, including one with QatarEnergy, and has gas sales agreements with GAIL (India) Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited for the regasified gas. A subsidiary, Petronet Energy Limited, works in LNG bunkering and in gassing up and cooling down LNG ships. Another subsidiary, Petronet LNG Singapore Pte. Ltd., was incorporated in March 2022 to buy and sell LNG. The company holds 26% of Adani Petronet (Dahej) Port Limited, which owns and operates a solid cargo port at Dahej, and 26% of India LNG Transport Company (No. 4) Private Limited, which owns the LNG carrier MT Prachi. A petrochemicals complex is being developed at Dahej.

The company was formed as a joint venture by the Government of India. It was incorporated in 1998 and its registered office is in New Delhi. Its promoters are GAIL (India) Limited, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. A promoter is the person or group that set up a company or controls it.
