About Neuland Laboratories
Neuland Laboratories is a contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) for the pharmaceutical industry. It supplies active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), the chemicals in a medicine that produce its effect, along with advanced intermediates, to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. It works with customers from early development through commercial supply, on both innovator and selected generic programmes, and has customers in over 80 countries.
The business runs in two verticals. Generic Drug Substances makes non-exclusive APIs for regulated markets. Its range includes prime APIs, which are large-volume, mature molecules, and specialty APIs, which are low-volume, complex molecules. Custom Manufacturing Solutions partners with pharmaceutical and biotech innovators on an exclusive basis. Its work includes process development, manufacturing of intermediates and APIs for clinical and commercial supply, and regulatory support for IND and NDA filings. These are the applications that seek approval to test a new drug in people and to sell it. The company's capabilities cover both small molecules and peptides, which are short chains of amino acids used as medicines. It has no presence in finished formulations, the ready-to-use tablets and injections, and describes itself as a pure-play API company.
Its manufacturing is around Hyderabad, in three units at Bonthapally, Pashamylaram and Gaddapotharam. It also has one research and development centre in India.
Dr. Davuluri Rama Mohan Rao founded Neuland in 1984 and is its Executive Chairman. It was incorporated in 1984.
