About Natco Pharma
NATCO Pharma is a research-focused pharmaceutical company. Its business covers the development, manufacturing and marketing of finished dosage formulations, active pharmaceutical ingredients and agrochemicals. Its stated mission is making specialty medicines accessible to all.
Export formulations are its largest segment. The domestic formulations business is led by oncology, cardiology, diabetology and specialty divisions. The crop health sciences division, which sells agrochemicals, was started in 2019. The board has approved a demerger of this division, and the demerger is awaiting regulatory approval.
NATCO has a presence in more than 50 countries through 13 subsidiaries, step-down subsidiaries and an associate. It has set up its own front-ends in the USA, Canada, Brazil, the Philippines, Singapore, Australia and Indonesia. It has a team of more than 5,200 people worldwide.
In November 2025, its South African subsidiary completed the acquisition of a 34.88% stake in Adcock Ingram Holdings, the second-largest pharmaceutical company in South Africa by private market share. Adcock Ingram has a heritage dating back to 1890 and operates in prescription, over-the-counter, hospital and consumer healthcare segments. The purchase formed part of a scheme of arrangement through which Adcock Ingram was delisted from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. A further stake bought in July 2026 took NATCO's ultimate holding to 49%.
NATCO was incorporated in 1981. It has grown from a single-unit operation with a small team into an international pharmaceutical company.
