About Jindal Saw
Jindal Saw Limited manufactures and supplies iron and steel pipes and tubes for water, oil and gas, and industrial uses, in India and abroad. It was founded in 1984 by Mr P.R. Jindal under the guidance of Shri O.P. Jindal. It began making longitudinal pipes at its Kosi Kalan facility in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, which received its first API licence in 1986.
The business has two parts: pipes and tubes, and pellets and mining. Pipes and tubes are made by helical and longitudinal submerged arc welding, centrifugal casting, and piercing and extrusion, from carbon steel and alloy steel, ductile iron and stainless steel. The company also supplies protective coatings and ancillaries such as fittings, bends and flanges. In pellets and mining, it operates a mechanised magnetite mine in Rajasthan and a 1.65 MTPA pellet plant at Bhilwara, Rajasthan.
Its manufacturing is spread across seven Indian states: Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Abroad, its wholly owned subsidiary Jindal SAW Gulf LLC in Abu Dhabi produces large-size rust-free iron pipes at an installed capacity of 300,000 tonnes a year, and a step-down subsidiary in Baytown, Texas runs a double jointing and coating facility for the North American market. In the year to March 2026 it formed a joint venture in Saudi Arabia with Buhur for Investment Company, in which it holds 51 per cent.
In 2024 a tribunal approved the merger into the company of two subsidiaries and an associate that made pipes, coatings and ductile iron fittings. The company also acquired Sathavahana Ispat's iron pipe plant in Andhra Pradesh through insolvency proceedings, and has exited several non-core companies as part of a restructuring.
