Return is price growth plus the average dividend yield. Change in P/E is (1 + price growth) / (1 + earnings growth) - 1, so the parts compound rather than add. Earnings growth over 5 years is on profit divided by shares in issue at both ends: the earnings per share stated for one end does not match that year's profit and share count. Earnings growth over 3 years includes one-off items (exceptional items and the result of businesses sold or closed) of more than a tenth of the profit of the year to Mar 2023.

About Indus Towers

Indus Towers Limited provides passive telecom infrastructure in India. It designs, deploys, owns and manages telecom towers that mobile network operators use to host their equipment, so that several operators share one tower. It has about 2.78 lakh towers, including lean towers, and about 4.42 lakh co-locations, which are operator installations on those towers. Its registered office is in Gurugram, Haryana. It was incorporated in 2006, and its shares have been listed on the stock exchanges since December 2012.

The company's offering covers ground and rooftop towers, in-building solutions that use distributed antenna systems, and smart poles fitted with LED lighting and CCTV cameras. It also supplies power to the telecom equipment on its sites from grid electricity, diesel generators, solar power and battery banks. A Tower Operations Centre monitors the network across the country.

Its footprint spans all telecom circles in India, covering 28 states and 8 union territories. It has begun entering Africa, starting with Nigeria, Uganda and Zambia, and has set up a wholly owned subsidiary, Indus Towers FZE, in the United Arab Emirates to support investment and management outside India. It has 3,795 employees.

Bharti Airtel Limited is the promoter and holding company of Indus Towers. A promoter is the person or group that set up a company or controls it. Vodafone group shareholders sold their remaining shareholding on 5 December 2024, and no Vodafone group entity now holds shares in the company. In the quarter to March 2025, the company acquired macro towers and lean co-locations from Bharti Airtel.
