About Cartrade Tech

CarTrade Tech runs online marketplaces in India for buying and selling new and used vehicles and other used products. Its platforms connect consumers, dealers, vehicle makers, financial institutions and auction partners. It was incorporated in 2000.

The business has three groups. The Consumer Group runs CarWale, BikeWale, CarTrade and abSure, online platforms where customers, dealers and vehicle makers buy and sell new and used vehicles. The Remarketing Group runs Shriram Automall, CarTrade Exchange and Adroit Auto. It combines an online-offline auction platform used by consumers, business sellers, dealers and fleet owners with inspection, valuation and certification services. The third group, OLX India, is an online classifieds platform for used products, with categories that include autos, real estate, mobiles, electronics and furniture.

Shriram Automall, a subsidiary, provides fee-based facilitation services for the sale of pre-owned vehicles and equipment, including vehicles repossessed by banks and financing companies. It has Automalls located across the country, and OLX India operates across India. Its Corporate Social Responsibility arm is CarTrade Foundation, which runs the DriveASmile initiative. The company has four direct subsidiaries and three step-down subsidiaries. Its proprietary artificial intelligence platform is called VAYA.

The company has grown partly by acquisition. It bought CarWale and BikeWale, acquired a stake in Shriram Automall, acquired Adroit Auto and acquired OLX India. It was the first auto portal to be listed on the stock exchange. Vinay Vinod Sanghi is its chairman and managing director.
