About Asian Paints

Asian Paints Limited makes paints and coatings and also sells home décor products and painting services. Its customers include homeowners, builders, housing societies, factories, architects and interior designers, and automotive and industrial manufacturers.

The business is organised in four segments: Decorative, Home Décor, International and Industrial. Decorative covers interior and exterior wall finishes, wood finishes, waterproofing, enamels, adhesives and undercoats. Home Décor covers modular kitchens and wardrobes, bath fittings and sanitaryware, decorative lighting, uPVC windows and doors, wall coverings, furniture, furnishings and rugs. That segment sells through 74 Beautiful Homes stores and under brands such as Sleek, Bathsense, White Teak and Weatherseal. Industrial coatings run through two joint ventures with PPG Industries Inc., USA: PPG Asian Paints, which serves automotive, general industrial, packaging and marine customers, and Asian Paints PPG, which supplies protective and powder coatings.

The International segment operates in 13 countries outside India, across South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the South Pacific. In India, manufacturing locations include Rohtak in Haryana, Ankleshwar in Gujarat, Khandala in Maharashtra, Mysuru in Karnataka and Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. The company also commissioned a white cement plant in Fujairah, UAE, in the year to March 2026.

The company was set up in 1942 as a partnership firm by four friends. Reno Chemicals Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics, Sleek International, Maxbhumi Developers and Asian Paints (Polymers) have since been amalgamated with it. On 27 June 2025 it bought the remaining 40% of Obgenix Software, the company behind White Teak, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. Five of its directors are classed as promoters. A promoter is the person or group that set up a company or controls it.
