About Abbott India

Abbott India Limited sells branded medicines in India. It serves patients and the healthcare professionals who treat them. The company works in six therapy areas: gastrointestinal, women's health, metabolics, central nervous system, vaccines and multi-specialty. Its brands include Thyronorm, Digene, Cremaffin, Duphalac, Vertin, Udiliv and Influvac.

In gastrointestinal care, Udiliv is a hepatoprotective, a medicine that protects the liver, and is ranked the number one brand in that group in India on IQVIA data for the 12 months to March 2026. Thyronorm is its brand for thyroid care, and Digene is an antacid, a medicine for acidity. In women's health, its brands include Duphaston and Femoston. During the year to March 2026 the company ran about 13,000 continuing medical education programmes, which engaged nearly 2,50,000 healthcare professionals. In the same year it added semaglutide, a treatment for type 2 diabetes, through a collaboration with Novo Nordisk India, under the brand Extensior.

The company has a manufacturing plant in Goa that makes tablets and liquids, and its corporate headquarters in Mumbai. It follows a predominantly local sourcing model and works with local manufacturers on production. Its sales reach covers the whole country.

It was incorporated in 1944. Around 2001 the company was integrating the Knoll Pharmaceuticals business into a single platform. Today it draws on the wider Abbott healthcare business, which spans pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, nutrition and diabetes care.
