A demerger's price factor is the opening price on the ex-date over the previous close. The price chart shows earlier closes multiplied by it, with the demerger reinvested; returns show the share as it traded, and beside them the same return with the demerger reinvested. Reinvested means the value of the shares of the company that was split off is treated as put back into this share at its opening price on the ex-date.
